Silverlight will be used as a development platform for Windows phone 7. This is a sensible decision as Silverlight has many advantages. It enables developers to create apps for the Web, without any worry about coding for specific API’s.
Also, developers are already familiar with Silverlight, and Windows is making it easier for developers to develop apps for Windows Phone 7. Although actual Windows Phone 7 hardware is not available yet, Microsoft has provided developers with an emulated system in a virtual machine. This will provide an environment for testing, without an actual device.
